Reb Haizlip, AIA Principal in Charge Reb is the founder of Haizlip Studio and principal in charge of design. Convinced early that the things we build powerfully affect the quality of life and success of communities, Reb has focused his and the firm’s work on creating places that open minds, connect people with ideas, and light up smiles. In the last twenty years, he has directed work on a fascinating variety of museum, educational, entertainment, civic and non-profit projects across the country and internationally. Many of these projects have been environments for children and families, for which Reb is a noted and gifted designer.
In recent years, Reb has grown interested in the link between creative design and strategic planning, and their roles in institutional sustainability. He has consulted worldwide helping organizations balance dynamic visitor-driven solutions with sound operational business planning, matching aspirations to audiences and programs to community need. With an exuberant presentation style, Reb is a frequent lecturer on the subject.
Made possible largely through the efforts of a talented design and management team, it is this combination of Reb’s interests that has led Haizlip Studio to build a unique and successful design practice- merging architectural, environmental and experiential design- privileged and always excited to be making a difference.
A 1979 graduate of Tulane University School of Architecture, Reb is actively involved in non-profit community development, is hopelessly drawn to the North Carolina outdoors, an avid cyclist, gardener, and devoted to his wife and business partner, Mary.

Thaler Beasley, LEED AP, Marketing and Environmental Graphic Design
Thaler began her career with one of our partners, providing research and writing text panel copy for the Tunica County Museum and the Downeast Heritage Center. These experiences sparked her interest in design, and led her to environmental graphic design creating branded environments and signage packages for projects across the country. Thaler’s background in art history and graphic design has added another layer of depth to our exhibit design and development practices.
 Joshua Jackson Project Designer
As Project Designer, Josh is proficient in areas of project planning, building design conceptual-ization and development, as well as 3-dimensional visualization. Josh’s knowledge of 3D visualization tools allows the firm to produce high quality, final rendering images that help bring our projects to life for our clients. By building an object in virtual space, we can see how it will work inside and out, allowing the flexibility to make changes and explore multiple possibilities for the project.
 Mary Haizlip, AIA
Managing Principal/ Project Architect
Mary wears many hats at Haizlip Studio and is one of its most valuable assets. She is managing business partner for the Memphis and Asheville offices, is a senior project architect, exhibit director, and talented interior designer. Mary stays busy.
Graduating Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Engineering Technology from The University of Memphis, Mary has parlayed her interests and considerable talents in math, science, and design into an expertise for management and art direction of complex architecture and exhibit design projects. She specializes in defining the thin line and difficult intersection between architecture and exhibits, where fine grained technical coordination and deft on-site decisions are the difference between success, and something else.
Mary devotes her off time to volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children (CASA volunteer), the AIA 2011 Board of Directors, Reggio Natural School Board of Directors, and she tries to keep Reb somewhere within eye shot.
